Privacy

This notice explains what data darhmedia.hu handles, and why. In short: no tracking cookies, no ads, and no data is shared with anyone.

Who is responsible?

darhmedia.hu is run by Darh Media (Tivadar). Contact: the email address on the Contact page.

Visitor statistics

To see which pages people find interesting, the site runs its own simple statistics. No external service (such as Google Analytics) is used.

For each page view it records:

  • which page you viewed, and when (the day);
  • which site you came from (only the site name, e.g. google.com), or the link’s utm_source tag, if any;
  • your browser’s language setting (e.g. en-GB);
  • the type of operating system and browser, and whether you used a phone, tablet or desktop.

It does not store IP addresses and does not use cookies. To count visits, a short identifier is made from the IP address and the browser identifier, using a secret key that changes every day. The key is deleted the next day, so the identifier cannot be reversed, and visits on different days cannot be linked. The data cannot be used to tell who visited the site.

The statistics also count requests for broken (non-existent) addresses in the same way: the address, the type of client and its browser identifier.

If JavaScript is disabled in your browser, the statistics do not count your visit. The legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): improving the site and finding errors.

Cookies

  • dmlang: only set when you switch language with the language picker. It remembers which language you want. It lasts one year.

The site uses no tracking, advertising or social cookies, so it does not ask for cookie consent.

Share buttons, external links

The share buttons under blog posts are plain links: nothing is loaded from social networks until you click one. After that, the privacy rules of that service (Facebook, X, WhatsApp, Telegram, Reddit) apply. The same goes for links to other sites (e.g. YouTube, GitHub).

YouTube videos

Where a post contains a video, at first only its picture and a play button are shown; nothing is loaded from YouTube at that point. The video only starts when you click it: it is then loaded from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced, cookie-free address (youtube-nocookie.com), and from then on Google’s privacy rules apply. The video’s picture (preview) comes from YouTube’s image server (i.ytimg.com).

Hosting logs

The hosting provider’s server may keep the usual logs needed for operation and security (IP address, time, requested address). These are handled by the provider, under its own rules, for a short time.

Your rights

You can ask for information, correction or deletion, or object to the processing, at the email address above. Because the statistics store nothing that could identify you, your visits cannot be looked up afterwards. You can lodge a complaint with the Hungarian data protection authority, NAIH (naih.hu).
